The second one is basically the only "serious" lower budget freestyle slalom skate, costing about the same as one of the higher specced models of freeskating hardboots. ![]() First one is a high-end model with a characteristic, triangle cuff first introduced in KSJ pro model, intended for people who look for a high end carbon skate with more ankle freedom. It is worth to add that competition has not managed to make a solid response to this model - that is, versatile skates with plastic boot base and integrated padding.Īnother case of slalom-oriented skates are Trix and Trix 2. In the past, this was a freestyle slalom oriented model (and can be used for it fairly well), but now it is positioned more as a high-end freeride skate and sold with a flat frame. The High Light (without carbon) are interesting skates. Old Igor skates always had a reputation of being a good fit for people with wider feet and it remains true in case of High Light Carbon. They do not differ in any meaningful way apart from colours, but Seba has released a cheaper version, sporting plastic cuff instead of carbon one. Interestingly, this is basically the same skate as old template Seba Igor model, before this was also moved under FR and re-built from scratch. The classic High Light range of skates is the main dish, with Seba High Light Carbon Pro acting as a flagship skate. With most of freeride part of older catalogue gone to FR, Seba is more about slalom these days. Still, the skates released under the older label are still super solid and no one should complain about their quality. However, Laffargue took a sizeable cut out of its catalogue and moved it under the new company, which is now considered a premium brand, with Seba taking a backseat. Both parties came into agreement, eventually - Seba has not vanished. ![]() A lot of people were saying that Seba is done. The behind the scenes talk says that there was a feud between Universkate and new owners of the factory in which Seba skates were made. Or is it new? The first batch of products were all Seba skates with different label. Universkate, the company behind Seba brand, led by Laffargue and friends, annouce creation of new brand - FR Skates. It's year 2018 and an earthquake has struck the skating scene. The following model, Seba High, were the very first skates in history built specifically for the purpose of freestyle slalom. Their FR1 skates has took the crown from Rollerblade Twister, a skate which basically had no competition when it comes to hardboot freeskates - even Sebastien himself was skating its precursor, Tecnica Twister. Seba has quickly become de fact THE brand for slalom skaters and gained a reputation of a company geared towards more advanced skaters. He struck a deal with a factory in Asia and the rest is history. ![]() His roots are in Paris' inline skating community, the freeskating enthusiasts, to be specific. The Seba brand can be called a first child of freestyle slalom skater Sebastien Laffargue, who was at the top of the game back when it was founded. We do not slow down with discounts!
